Weddings at Stowe FAQ

Please note that these do not always apply to intimate weddings – please inquire with our Private Events team with intimate wedding questions. 

What are in-season and out-of-season months? 

In-Season: April, May, September, October, November 

Out-of- Season: January, February, March, July, August 

Can we bring out our own caterer ? 

Best Impressions Caterers is the exclusive caterer for Daniel Stowe Conservancy. Best Impressions is responsible for providing and managing all aspects of food, beverage and equipment rentals within the venue. Best Impressions carries all liability insurance and is licensed through the North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Commission to provide Spirits within the estate. There are different alcohol packages to best suit the needs of your specific event. No outside alcohol is permitted by law; we will be forced to stop the event if violated. No exceptions. 

Do you require a wedding planner? 

At minimum, we do require that you have a day of planner and we are happy to provide a list of recommended planners and coordinators. 

Does Stowe offer decorations? 

No, you and your planner/coordinator are responsible for providing and setting up decorations for your event.

How is additional equipment handled? 

For your convenience, Best Impressions Caterers will arrange for all additional equipment rentals within the venue (i.e. linens, tables, chairs, draping, etc.) 

What if I need to cancel my event? 

We understand that emergencies happen and sometimes an event must be canceled. However, your initial payment of a 50% deposit secures your event date permanently on our calendar and prevents us from booking another event in the space at that time and thus deposits are nonrefundable. 

What steps must I take to secure a date and space for my wedding? 

Stowe requires 50% of the rental package due at contract singing to secure the date. 

Is pricing different for wedding days other than Saturday? 

Yes, Stowe offers a discounted rate for weddings held Sunday – Friday.  

Will other events take place during my wedding? 

There may be a public day time event from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Gardens at Stowe only host one wedding per day.  

When arriving for the event, where do my guests park? 

Guests may park in the lot in front of the Garden pavilion. All parking is free. 

Does Stowe have any event time restrictions? 

Stowe allows up to a two-hour extension with a fee of $1,000 per hour extended. Events cannot be extended past midnight.

Is smoking permitted at the gardens? 

No, Daniel Stowe Conservancy does not allow any smoking on property, including cigars, vapes and e-cigarettes. 

Are animals permitted inside the gardens? 

No. 

How far in advance does Stowe book event dates? 

We are currently booking 2026 and 2027. If you are interested in a 2028 date, please reach out in January of 2027. 

Is Stowe an all-inclusive wedding venue? 

No; our rates cover only the venue spaces and time.  

Are The Gardens at Stowe in bloom year-round? 

There are always various seasonsal blooms from March – December. Stowe is considered a dormant garden in January and February. However, our tropical Williamson Conservancy offers vibrant orchids and tropical plants even in the winter.
