Jun 18 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Part of Pollinator Week | Wednesday, June 18 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Garden Pavilion | $25*
An up-close look at the secret world of honey bees with an expert: perfect for Pollinator Week! 🐝
Curious about honey bees and their essential role in our environment? Join us for Peek Into Beekeeping, a special Pollinator Week class designed for anyone interested in learning more about these remarkable pollinators– no experience required!
This informative session is not a full beekeeping course, but a well-informed introduction leading into real-life visits to our hives in the garden! With this, you’ll discover plenty of practical insights and real-life beekeeping basics. We’ll begin with a roughly 45-minute presentation in our Wren Room, led by experienced beekeeper and the man of the hives here at the garden, Marty Gutkowski of G’s Bees! Take a look at his Observation Hive to see what’s happening inside the hive in real time and learn how bees communicate, work together and support our gardens and food systems.
Afterward, take a guided walk to our working beehives for an up-close visit. Observe the bees in action, ask questions and discover how our on-site hives contribute to pollinator health throughout the garden. (Psst– you can buy the honey harvested from our very own hives at our Trailhead Store and The Farmhouse!)
Space is limited so pre-registration is required: register now to secure your spot in this Pollinator Week event!
