We’re thrilled to bring back our popular Scarecrow Hollow exhibit for 2025! In autumn, our Lost Hollow Children’s Garden transforms to Scarecrow Hollow, a delightful collection of creatively-designed scarecrows crafted by our community. These scarecrows can be silly, spooky, stunning or anything in between and we love browsing Scarecrow Hollow to find our favorites.
Throughout the duration of the exhibit, visitors to The Gardens can cast votes in-person or online to determine the “Best in Crow” and crown first, second and third place winners!
Scarecrow Hollow opens on Saturday, September 27, so we’re currently taking registrations to participate! Individuals, families, schools, nonprofits/civic groups and businesses are all encouraged to participate. Your participation not only shows off your creative skill and/or promotes your business, but your registration fee directly supports Daniel Stowe Conservancy, giving us more resources to conserve our beautiful 380-acre property.

Scarecrow Hollow Participant Details

Exhibit Dates: Saturday, September 27 – Friday, October 31, 2025

Registration Dates: Friday, August 1 – Wednesday, September 3

Contest: In-person and online visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite scarecrows in each category to determine the winners. Voting runs from Saturday, September 27 – Sunday, October 19, with the winners being announced the week of Monday, October 20. Winners will be highlighted for the remainder of the exhibit.

Participant Fees

  • Individual/Familes (Members) – $35
  • Individual/Families (Non-Members) – $50
  • Schools – $50
  • Nonprofits + Civic Groups – $100
  • Small Businesses – $250
  • Corporations – $500
Highlight Your Organization: Each scarecrow will include participant information on display throughout the extent of the exhibit. This is a great opportunity to highlight your organization or business, as you’ll receive shoutouts on Stowe’s social media accounts throughout October!

This is a fun exhibit so no scary, religious or political scarecrows will be accepted.

Prizes
All scarecrows are judged together
First Place: Eight tickets to Holidays at the Garden PLUS a free year of membership (or membership extension)
Second Place: Four tickets to Holidays at the Garden
Third Place: Two tickets to Holidays at the Garden
Due to rising material costs there is no discount for additional scarecrows this year.
