Butterfly Bungalow Hours

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. during Garden open hours. See here for Garden hours.

The Butterfly Bungalow is a summer exhibit open from May 23-Labor Day

Join us for an enchanting journey into the world of butterflies in our Butterfly Bungalow.

Step into a realm of fluttering wings and vibrant colors as you explore the Butterfly Bungalow. Watch butterflies emerge from chrysalides, explore a pollinator paradise, search for hungry caterpillars among the leaves and more! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn about and interact with the butterflies you may find in your own backyard.

  • Capacity Limit: To ensure a comfortable experience for all, the Butterfly Bungalow has a maximum capacity of approximately 25 people at a time.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchairs and walkers are welcome. However, please note that strollers are not permitted inside the Bungalow due to narrow pathways and the need to watch for butterflies on the ground.
  • Weather Closings: The Butterfly Bungalow will close when lightning is present, but may re-open when the storm has cleared. If the heat index reaches 103 degrees or higher, the Butterfly Bungalow will close for the day.
  • Guidelines: To preserve the beauty of our butterfly habitat, we kindly ask guests to refrain from catching or holding the butterflies. Please help prevent escapees by ensuring doors are closed securely as you enter and leave the Bungalow.
  • Food and Beverage Guidelines: To protect both our butterflies and our guests, we kindly ask that no open-top beverages or food items are brought into the Butterfly Bungalow. This includes items like open cans, cups with lids and straws and snacks such as ice cream or popsicles. You’re welcome to enjoy these items before entering or leave them on the table in the vestibule (please note that our staff cannot be responsible for these belongings). This rule ensures the health of our butterflies and the cleanliness of our space.
  • Pet Policy: Dogs and other animals are not allowed inside the Butterfly Bungalow due to risk to the butterflies. This is mainly due to the potential harm that flea and tick treatments pose to the butterflies, among other concerns. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate service animals in this space as well due to the risk presented to the butterflies.
  • Safety Reminder: Watch your step as butterflies will land on the ground. No running or climbing on our landscape border wall for the safety of our crawling caterpillars.
  • Curiosity Welcome: Feel free to ask questions and enjoy your time exploring the Butterfly Bungalow.

Embark on a magical journey with us at the Butterfly Bungalow—where every visit promises a fluttering good time!
